Timeout context manager for asyncio programs
Project description
async-timeout
asyncio-compatible timeout context manager.
Usage example
The context manager is useful in cases when you want to apply timeoutlogic around block of code or in cases when asyncio.wait_for() isnot suitable. Also it’s much faster than asyncio.wait_for()because timeout doesn’t create a new task.
The timeout(timeout, *, loop=None) call returns a context managerthat cancels a block on timeout expiring:
- If inner() is executed faster than in 1.5 seconds nothinghappens.
- Otherwise inner() is cancelled internally by sendingasyncio.CancelledError into but asyncio.TimeoutError israised outside of context manager scope.
Business card composer 5 2 3. timeout parameter could be None for skipping timeout functionality.
Context manager has .expired property for check if timeout happensexactly in context manager:
The property is True if inner() execution is cancelled bytimeout context manager.
If inner() call explicitly raises TimeoutErrorcm.expiredis False.

In the summer of 1816, ayoung, well-educated woman from England traveledwith her lover to the Swiss Alps. Unseasonable rain kept them trappedinside their lodgings, where they entertained themselves by readingghost stories. At the urging of renowned poet Lord Byron, a friendand neighbor, they set their own pens to paper, competing to seewho could write the best ghost story. The young woman,Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin, took the prize, having composed a storycreepy enough not only to take its place alongside the old Germantales that she and her Alpine companions had been reading, but alsoto become a bestseller in her time and a Gothic classic that still resonateswith readers almost two centuries later.
Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin was born on August 30,1797, in London, of prime literary stock. Her mother,Mary Wollstonecraft, was the author of A Vindication ofthe Rights of Woman, a feminist tract encouraging womento think and act for themselves. Wollstonecraft died giving birthto Mary, leaving her daughter in the care of her husband, WilliamGodwin, a member of a circle of radical thinkers in England thatcounted Thomas Paine and William Blake among its ranks. Mary’s upbringingin this rarefied atmosphere exposed her at an early age to cutting-edgeideas, and it forged useful connections for her to such notablesas Lord Byron.
Another of the literary types that Mary met as a teenagerwas Percy Bysshe Shelley, a dashing young poet. Sparks flew, and,in 1814, they ran away together for a tourof France, Switzerland, and Germany—Mary escaping her family andPercy his wife. At first blissful, their affair soon came understrain. Percy’s relationship with Mary waxed and waned with thedemands of his wife, Harriet; meanwhile, Mary busied herself withanother man. Despite these distractions, the relationship enduredand was eventually formalized under scandalous circumstances: Harriet, pregnant with Percy’s child, drowned herself in London in Novemberof 1816; Mary and Percy were married weekslater.

The union between Mary and Percy was not only romanticbut also literary. Percy edited Mary’s manuscript for Frankenstein andis commonly supposed to have written the preface under her name. Frankenstein waspublished on January 1, 1818, and becamean immediate bestseller. Unfortunately for Mary, this success wasa single bright spot amid a series of tragedies. From 1815 to 1819,three of her four children died in infancy; in 1822,Percy drowned off the shore of Tuscany, leaving Mary a widow andsingle mother. Mary turned to her husband’s poetry and prose, editingand publishing his Posthumous Poems in 1824 andhis Poetical Works and Letters in 1839.She spent the rest of her time on her own writing, publishing Valperga in 1823, TheLast Man in 1826, The Fortunesof Perkin Warbeck in 1830, Lodore in 1835, and Falkner in 1837.Serious illness plagued Mary, and she died in London in February 1851.
